The London Eye

Me and Brooke in the rickshaw

Me in front of the London Eye and the Aquarium

Our professors paid for us to ride the London Eye because we were such good sports about not having hot water for the first two weeks we were at the BYU Centre. Brooke decided to make it our date night and did so in style. She convinced me to take a rickshaw ride from an Indian restaurant in Covent Garden over to the Westminster area. It was quite the experience. At one point in the ride, our driver, couldn't find a sidewalk, thought it would be a good idea to just ride over the edge of the sidewalk. He went at the lip of the sidewalk with speed and we promptly got stuck. This all occurred right in front of a pub full of rowdy men who all busted into laughter at the sight of us. The driver backed up a few more times and tried again to no avail. Luckily the men were kind enough to cheer him on with drunken gears. After a while, a few of the men came over and helped push our little rickshaw onto the sidewalk. We rode off into the sunset with the sounds of laughter and cheering ringing through the evening air. I thought the driver should have given us a discount for the embarrassment we had to endure. We eventually made it to the London Eye, boarded our capsule for our flight and we were off. Personally, I think the whole experience is entirely too expensive. The view is pretty, but not really worth the money. The ride costs about $28. Brooke and I decided to have our own little photo shoot in front of the Parliament building and I enjoyed it a little too much. We might have eaten a few too many sugared peanuts as well.
